Fall Begins

Osiyo~

Summer is almost over here in the midwest and it’s been hot as a firecracker. Thankfully not as many wildfires as we’d feared but it wouldn’t take much to wipe Oklahoma off the map with the lack of rain we’ve had this year. I hope everyone else is staying cool. On top of that we are having internet issues and hope to have it resolved soon so I can blog more regularly again. Until then, feel free to visit some of my friends’ sites in my blog roll for fun. I’ll be updating that list very soon with some awesome authors!

I’ve had a busy, busy summer. I announced the purchase of our new home in June, well we are moved in and almost unpacked. Still far from organized, but unpacked. I sold my first short story ebook, HOME, to The Wild Rose Press in the midst of it all and am waiting on the release date, which I’ll announce as soon as I have it.

So what am I working on now? I still haven’t figured out the revisions for Perfect Dr. Viv so I’m moving forward on that mostly. This week I started a new project. I love new beginnings. I know a lot of authors who say the first draft of a new book is their favorite part of writing. I love that ‘new’ feel as I open a blank doc. but even more than that, I think my fave part is after I give those cardboard persons life. When I breathe personality and substance into them with words I begin to feel like I’m getting to know new friends and I fall in love with them. That doesn’t happen in a first, or sometimes even a second, draft for me. So it will be a while before I introduce the three latest characters to the world here in my blog. Yep. There are three special people in this new wip. Three main characters. Nooo. It’s not a menage! You know by now that I write what my tag line says- ONE man, ONE woman, ONE love. So who is the third MC? You’ll have to wait and see. All I can tell you is that you’ll adore them (I hope) as much as I already do.

In the meantime, I’ll be writing, revising and happily living in my new house in the middle of one of the hottest, driest states in the USA.

Oh- and check back on Tuesday, the 23rd, to find out where I’ll be guest blogging.

  2. Lovely blog, Calisa. Congratulations on all your new beginnings. I have wanted to throw my laptop in the trash plenty of times, but I know I’d just be digging it back out of the coffee grounds. Beautiful inviting colors here.

  5. You’ll tackle those revisions into submission, Calisa, I just know it.

The start of a new project is like a first date that just keeps going – all that giddy excitement and what’s gonna happen and where is this going. I love it.

  6. Busy summer girl! Yes, I love new projects…meeting new characters and dropping myself into a new place for a while. Anxious to get your release date on Home, but probably not nearly as much as you! Stay cool, and see on the 23rd for what’s behind “Door Number 3.”

  8. For the curious:

    Osiyo is Cherokee for Hello.
Dodadagohvi is Cherokee for Good-bye (or more accurately- Until we meet again).

    Thanks for asking.

  10. The page looks great, easy to read. It’s hot here also, but getting cooler. Lots of new things for you, new home and new project. You are right, starting something new is exciting. I’m in the revision stage and after all this time I am starting to fall out of love with my characters — instead of being new and shiny and full of possibilities they are schlepping around in their bathrobes with their hair full of snarls. (smile).

    • Exactly Sandy. After so many revisions and changes I feel like the characters aren’t the same people anymore. It takes a lot to keep the qualities I love in them after a while. Love the bathrobe and snarls comment! lol

  13. The blog looks beautiful, Calisa. I love the colors. Nicely done, my friend. Oh and I know this might make me sound like a complete moron, but what do the words “Osiyo” and “Dodadagohvi” mean? I’ve been trying to figure that out for months! Hugs to you!

    • Thanks for stopping in AJ. I wasn’t sure about light colors at first because I prefer bold, dark colors usually.

You’re NOT a moron. Hugs back.
