It is with great honor that I have the wonderful and talented Rachel Brimble from across the pond (Europe for those like me who might be clueless to where that is) with me on the ranch today! Author of Lyrical Press book Paying the Piper and many more fun books I look forward to reading as soon as I whittle my tbr down slowly.

Welcome Rachel. We’re going to dig into some questions and have some fun!

Ready. Set. GO!

1)Do you have critique partners?

Yes, I do now and wonder why on earth I didn’t before! I hooked up with my first critique partner about a year ago and it’s been fantastic. We work really well together and she has made my writing better and thinking deeper. Even though she writes series romance and I write single title we click and I can’t imagine not working with her now.

My other critique partner I met online just a few months ago and so far it is going really well. We both write single title with lots of humor so the fit is great. And of course, we are having lots of laughs along the way.

Three cheers for good critique partners! 🙂

2) If you could time travel would you go forward or backward?

Back definitely. I think we have lost a sense of what is important in the world and I would love to go back when family, friends and the community was what people needed to survive. The lack of human contact in our world is diminishing and I find that really worrying.

My favorite historical period is Victorian or Edwardian – rich with all different people, circumstances and beliefs. You throw poverty versus wealth and a World War into the mix and life is VERY different than what we know today.


3) Why do you write what you do?

I vary my genres between straight contemporary romance, romantic suspense and Victorian historical. Why? Because I love to read all three and so like to write them too!

As I now have an agent, it might be that I have to choose one to focus on at some point but right now, I am embracing the freedom I have of not being under contract to write a series. I love writing one of each and then starting again. I hope it keeps my writing fresh and my readers interested!

4) Tell us a little about your WIP

I am two thirds the way through my next book which is a contemporary romance with lots of humor and lots of sexy innuendo. I am having so much fun with it, you wouldn’t believe. I want to be my heroine. She is fabulous!

It is set in South West England, about a woman who runs a sexy lingerie and toy shop and because of unforeseen circumstances, she needs to move the business to her home address. This doesn’t go down too well with her new neighbor, a hunky single dad of four-year-old twin girls…

5: Favorite romance movie?

Message in a Bottle starring Robyn Wright-Penn, Kevin Costner and Paul Newman – an adaptation of the gorgeous book by Nicholas Sparks.

I love this movie and recommend everyone see it – I am so jealous I didn’t write this story myself! It has absolutely everything a good romance should have. I cry so much every time I watch it, lol! In fact, hubby isn’t home tomorrow night…

I LOVE Message in a Bottle! Wouldn’t it be fun to watch it, oh, and maybe Sleepless in Seattle in a girlie sleepover? Of course, we’d have wine over kool-aid. 🙂

What a nice couple!

Rachel lives with her husband and two young daughters in a small town near Bath in the UK.  She started writing short stories about eight years ago but once her children were at school, she embarked on her first novel. It was published in 2007. Since then, she’s had several books published with The Wild Rose Press, Eternal Press and Lyrical Press.  She recently acquired a US agent with her second Victorian historical. A member of the Romantic Novelists Association and Romance Writers of America, Rachel hopes to have a further two novels, one contemporary and one Victorian published in 2012.

When she isn’t writing, you’ll find Rachel with her head in a book or walking the beautiful English countryside with her family.  Her dream place to live is Bourton-on-the-Water in South West England. And in the evening? Well, a well-deserved glass of wine is never, ever refused…
