The Next Best Thing Challenge
The Next Best Thing Challenge
My new LPI writerly sister, Mae Clair, didn’t waste any time initiating me into her circle of friends! I’ve never heard of this one before but had a lot of fun putting it together on a slow blog day. Here’s how the game works: Answer the 10 NBTC questions below. Spread the fun and tag 5 awesome people to participate! So . . . ready, set, go!
What is the title of your book/WIP? Risk Factors
Where did the idea of this book come from? Desperation for a chance to get in front of a HQN/MB editor
What genre would your book fall under? Contemporary
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? I’ve found models for these roles but actors? Hm I’ll have to look. Okay here goes:
[five images deleted]
What is the one sentence synopsis of your book? A skunk and a tiny blonde cupid put a unique twist on the term: Love of medicine.
Is your book published or represented? Risk Factors is tentatively scheduled for a March 2013 release from Lyrical Press, Inc.
How long did it take you to write it? Two and a half months.
What other books in your genre would you compare it too? Well, I haven’t seen any that pit a veterinarian with an EMT-P so I don’t know.
Which authors inspired you to write this book? Melinda B. Pierce, Christine Bell aka Chloe Cole, Donna Shields, LC Chase and Kristina Knight- my Twinkies of Chapter by Chapter critique group and the (other) best crit partners on earth! It was a challenge presented to our group by Melinda and we all tried it but I was the only one to get the full requested by M&B.
Tell us anything else that might pique our interest in your book. I pulled this book by choice from the London Mills and Boon Medical line after seven months of grueling edits that went nowhere. When Lyrical contracted it my editor and I changed the title from its original, Perfect Dr. Viv, to Risk Factors. It’s probably the only book ever written that has a four-legged character like no other pet out there.
WOW! This has been fun. Thanks for the tag, Mae! And now, the five gifted authors I’d like to tag for the next round: Donna Shields Ceri Hebert Ally Broadfield Mac Crowne Jennifer Lowery

I love their pet! And that’s pretty close to how I pictured Connor 🙂

My actual image of Connor is slightly different. But these are pretty close.
