Osiyo!
Happy March and welcome to The Ranch, my home on the web!
I can’t tell you how excited I am today. It’s the long-awaited release day for RISK FACTORS from Lyrical Press, Inc! I’ll be at Vonnie Davis’s blog (when she awakes and puts up my post, that is) today celebrating my release day and talking about publishing firsts and “old hat.” If you’ve read any of my blogs in the last month you’ll already know this book has been a long time coming. I wrote it in less than four months in 2010, August-November and when it didn’t sell to Mills and Boon after ten months (my choice, not theirs), I reworded it a little and sold it to Lyrical in May 2012.
Now, today, it’s out for all of you to enjoy and I’m stoked beyond belief.
I’m so excited I want to put the cover art, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! up for the world to see…from my living room. I do. I am contemplating having a wall graphic made! Like this–
Yep- I wanna Fathead of my cover art! You can click on this picture to browse Fathead.com.
Here’s a bit about RF for you to enjoy while I go plan where to put my Fathead wall mural once I get it.
Love, like life, is not without risk.
BLURB- Veterinarian Vivian Dane has purchased her uncle’s practice in the tiny town of Wales,
Missouri, where most residents still doubt her ability to treat their pets. But Viv is used to being
considered less-worthy than her predecessors. After all, her parents are world-renowned wildlife
vets, and most everyone is unimpressed she’s chosen to not follow directly in their footsteps.
Now Connor, a patient’s owner, is hot for Viv, but clearly doesn’t think she’s dating material
because he has a daughter…who he believes no woman is good enough for.
Being a perfect dad is EMT paramedic Connor’s life focus. He can’t seem to stay away
from sexy Doctor Viv, but attraction is as far as he’ll ever let it go. His mother abandoned him,
leaving him to be raised in the foster system, and then his wife abandoned both him and their
daughter. He absolutely will not risk bringing another woman into his little girl’s life and having
her feel the hurt of being left…again.
Forfeiting is easier than attempting and failing. So why does Viv feel compelled to prove
she’s a sure bet for Connor and his daughter? Can Connor trust Viv–and himself–enough to play
the possibilities?
EXCERPT- Viv’s smile and throaty laughter burrowed deeper by the second, mutating into hot want that seemed to draw him to her at every opportunity. But her invitation shook him back to level
ground. Dinner. With her. Vivian Dane, the woman who seemed to freely access his dreams
lately, was asking him out.
Her voice fell to a low smoky grade that slid like satin over him, tightening around his chest, making it hard to breathe.
He wanted to kiss her.
Period.
There was something about her in the lab coat he couldn’t put his finger on. She appeared
so fragile and delicate in pink that matched her lips…china doll perfect. Kissable.
He opened his mouth to refuse. He couldn’t afford to get close to anyone, wouldn’t risk Janna. He knew his daughter already liked the vet, had said so. If he got involved and it all nosedived south, he couldn’t stand to have Janna hurt. Even if she didn’t know it, Viv was their veterinarian now and he’d have to see her, Jelly Bean would notice the tension–
“Connor?”
“I’d like that.”

To kick off my release, I’m having a party all month long.
It’s time for RISK FACTORS’ release party! I’m going on a blog tour and would love you to join me. At the end of this tour I’ll be picking one winner to gift either a signature rose rock for a USA winner or a $10 GC of choice (Kindle or Nook) for one overseas or in Canada. Either winner will also get a PDF copy of Risk Factors!
The more you stalk me and comment, the greater your chance to win. The tour begins Feb. 26th thru April 8th. I’ll announce the winner on the 10th.
As a special bonus, I’ll be pooling all my blog hosts and the one with the most comments for my post will also win one of the same prizes as the winners! They need your help to win so the more stops you comment on, the better everyone’s chances! Just scroll on down to the beginning of the tour list here to catch them all.
Thank you for joining me on this fun journey’s end and good luck to all!

Congratulations on your release Calisa! The cover is gorgeous – you could always put it on an OUTSIDE wall of your house, instead of inside! 😉 Have a great blog tour!

Hm That’s an idea, Serena. I honestly haven’t considered that, other than smaller ones for my van’s windows.

Haha Funny you should word it that way, Jessi. If you go to Fathead’s site and see the taupe room with a big buck in it, that’s what I used to make mine above! 😀 I just took off the deer and ‘painted’ the walls green to suit my needs (because that’s almost the color I’ll be painting my living room this year).
Thanks for the luck!

LOVE IT, Calisa! What size did you set this up as? I had my book cover with a couple of reviews put on car air fresheners. What we authors have to go through to sell a book! Best of luck with your new release.

Air fresheners are a great idea, too, Toni Lynn. This isn’t really my house. I put RF into an existing picture to show how cool it would be. hehe Thanks for your kind words. 🙂

I’ve finally gotten Calisa’s Release Day Party up at Vintage Vonnie. And boy, do I feel lower than a possom’s pec*er for being late. But as I tried to tell our darling Calisa, champagne before eleven is bad for wrinkles. Come on by! Have a bit of bubbly and cake and strawberries and show our girl some love. http://www.vintagevonnie.blogspot.com
