How did the writer’s journey begin for you?

I LOVED to read books as a child. I read everything I could, ranging from kids books to adult books. I read a full 500 page novel when I was eight or nine. That kind of started it all for me there. I started writing little stories, just for fun. I wish I still had some of those first stories! Of course, as I got older, I got better at writing until I finally started getting stuff published. The past year though has been the best year. I’ve seen several books reach bestselling status on Amazon.com and the launch of the Brothers of Rock series has only made that success greater!

I started the same way years ago, and though I don’t have any of my rock star stories now (my sister accidentally lost them) I do have a lot of my other stories that I pull out to read now and then.

Tell us three things about you-the writer-readers wouldn’t typically know.

1. I have to drink three cups of coffee to actually wake up

2. I have ‘experience’ with rock stars… so I know what I’m talking/writing about!

3. I can’t get enough romance. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER.

It all began when…

I walked through the aisles of a library. Studying the covers. The titles. The author names. Seeing how amazing it was that SO MANY WORDS could be written, shared, and enjoyed. There was something magical about being ‘lost’ in a library.

Where did you get the premise for this book?

Rock stars. What could be sexier, right? 🙂  But honestly I wanted to capture the life of a rock star on and off stage. I came up with the idea for a successful band that’s out on tour but the members are battling their own lives. On stage they’re together as one, as a band of brothers even, but off stage they are five different men. They have hopes, dreams, heartache, and the longing for romance. The band is Chasing Cross and the first five books follows each band member as they fall in love, face the past, prepare for the future, and test to see just how powerful love can really be.

What stands out about this story that made writing it different for you?

It’s real. As said, I know rock stars. I’ve been to concerts with 20 people and with 20,000 people. I’ve seen the ups, the downs, the lives, the deaths, everything. But off stage, musicians are people. That’s the best part about this… it’s rock star romance, sure, but they’re people. That’s what makes it so different for me at least. To see these rock stars off stage, and vulnerable.

Were there any difficult challenges or special subject matter you came across while writing this book/series?

The hardest part of the book (and series) is managing the band and their life! They’re sometimes on tour, sometimes off tour, sometimes in the studio, etc. It’s not just managing the book or the story, it’s the series!

What about this book would make us want to read it more than others of similar taste?

I’m bringing romance to the table. The story of falling love. But with that comes the life of these rock stars. It comes with their pasts, their demons, and the battles they face, not just falling in love. There are some steamy scenes in the book(s) but they aren’t the dominating parts of the series, which makes it exciting. It’s just about sex all the time! These guys have feelings… and so do the women.

What do you want readers to take away from this book?

A belief in love. To fall in love with Johnnie (lead singer of Chasing Cross) and to feel happiness for Jess, who finally finds love and finds her ‘voice’ in more than one way. Also, I want them to be excited for the rest of the series! Readers get the meet the entire band and get glimpses at what’s to come!

Tell us about the finished book. Is there anything special we might not know after reading it?

The shocking ending leaves the opening for the second book featuring guitarist Davey…and the same could be said for the rest of the band. They’re all facing problems, just like everyone else in life.
