Welcome one and all! Grab a beverage of choice, something sweet and sinful. No-no, not the men. What’s the matter with you? You know the hands-on rules… The guest gets first pick! 😉 Take a comfy seat for another, or a first, spin in the Round Pen.

I know it’s Friday Fanfare day, but it’s also my guest’s birthday today so we’re mixing it up a tad with a character interview, rather than the usual author one. 😀 I’m thrilled to welcome my wonderfully talented guest today, Tena Stetler, who is sharing her new book, Charm Me with us! Don’t you think the cover is precious? And keep reading fans, because it’s YOU who get the gift.

Please show Tena some real Ranch love once again! Happy birthday, Tena!!!

First I need to ask, how did the writer’s journey begin for you, Tena?
tena7 300-2Paranormal romance, cozy mysteries and romantic suspense are what I enjoy writing and reading. I admit to having an over-active imagination, which helps in the paranormal realm. As a tween, I wrote my first vampire romance to the chagrin of my mother, but my friends loved them. Colorado is home, that I share with my husband, a brilliant Chow Chow, a spoiled parrot and a forty-two -year-old box turtle. On cold, snowy winter evenings I love to curl up in front of a crackling fire with a good book, a mug of hot chocolate and a big bowl of popcorn.
You can check out my writing endeavors or what’s on the horizon for me on my website http://www.tenastetler.com, which includes my blog.

That’s enough about me. I believe I see Summer and Devlin at the door. They are the hero and heroine of Charm Me, my new release, A Candy Hearts Romance from The Wild Rose Press.

Welcome, Summer. Devlin, thanks for stopping by. Who’s this you brought with you?

“That’s Piper, she’s my canine companion.”

“And damn fine guard dog.” Devlin added.

“Yeah, but you won her over.” Summer said.

“As with most things female.” Devlin barely got the sentence out of his mouth before he roared with laughter.

“Oh, I don’t know, I’m pretty partial to you.” Summer bumped hips with him and grinned.

(Tena intervenes) Hey Devlin, tell us a little about life after being a Navy SEAL What do you miss most about it?

(Calisa) “Would you like a cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate?”

“Coffee for me,” Devlin said.

“Hot Chocolate, please.” Summer added.

He walked over to the couch, waited for Summer to sit down then settled in beside her, his arm across the back of the couch behind her. “I enjoy the ability to plan my life without waiting for complications. Being there for my dad, now that mom’s gone. He lives in Montana with my sister and the twins. My brother lives in Canada. Always being on high alert wears on your body, I hate to admit it, but it’s a young man’s profession. Well, to be at the top of your game, anyway. Anything less and you’re a danger to yourself and your team. But I miss the comradery, the thrill, if you will and some of the guys got delicious care packages.” Devlin reached out and took the steaming mugs from Calisa. Handing the hot chocolate to Summer.

But the secret missions. Was that exciting, can you tell us a little about that?

“Nope, that’s classified.” Devlin took a sip of coffee, sat the mug on a table, and leaned back on the couch.Summer shifted in her seat, wrapped her hands around the mug and peered at him. “But you’re no slouch in the kitchen. When you cooked me dinner at your place, the home-made lasagna and garlic bread was fantastic. The Tiramisu was to die for. That Valentine’s Day dessert – um—Cinnamon Maple Twist, I believe you called it, was scrumptious.” Summer licked her lips.

Devlin’s lips twitched. “A man’s got to eat. Seriously, my mom, who was Italian, insisted that my brother, sister and I learn to cook. She called it survival skills. Each one of us cooked a meal during the week. She and dad graded us on it. It became a competition, so we all turned out to be reasonable cooks. Never had much time to hone the skill until I retired.”

“Summer what attracted you to Devlin?”

Summer raised a brow, a slow smile curved her lips as she looked him up and down. She waved a hand toward him. “The whole package, look at him. Well defined muscles, chiseled facial features, a smooth deep voice, like warm honey.” She fanned herself with her hand. “He doesn’t take no for an answer. And Piper liked him — eventually.” The dog was curled up obediently, at Summer’s feet, Piper’s head on her paws, eyes wary. She leaned into Summer’s hand when she reached down and scratched the dog’s ears affectionately.

Devlin flexed his muscles and grinned. “Gee I feel like a piece of meat on display.”

“When I took the yoga instructor position as far from home as possible, I thought I’d left magic behind. But it was his mysterious magic signature that also attracted me. Didn’t know…” Summer paused.

The watch on Devlin’s arm beeped. “Looks like we need to wind this up, we have an appointment shortly.”

“Then let me ask one last question. Devlin, what attracted you to Summer?”

Devlin wiggled his eyebrows. “It was her no-nonsense attitude, great sense of humor, and I’d never known a witch before that was intriguing. Even when I wasn’t with her, she danced around the edges of my thoughts. I’d had two failed long term relationships and had sworn off women. But there was something about her. The rest, as they say, is history.” He leaned over, kissed her, lingering for a long moment, then stood up. “Got to go. It was nice meeting everyone.”

“Yes, it was,” Summer nodded as Devlin wrapped a strong arm around her waist, motioned for the dog to follow.

(Calisa) Thank you both for dropping by today to help celebrate Tena’s birthday.

“Happy Birthday, Tena!” Summer and Devlin said in unison.

Well, I guess now would be a good time to tell you a little more about Charm Me.

Blurb:

Summer Dawn Riley’s an extraordinary elemental witch whose troubled past haunts her. She’s created a calm life for herself teaching yoga and keeping people at a distance. Her life takes a one eighty degree turn when she enrolls in a women’s weapons class and meets ruggedly handsome Devlin Sawyer.

Devlin, a former Navy Seal, has sworn off women after two long-term failed relationships, but there is no denying his attraction to Summer. She intrigues him like no other woman ever has. Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?perf5.000x8.000.indd

Excerpt:

Getting to her feet, she brushed the dust from her black yoga pants, tugged at the bottom of her bright orange tunic, and flipped the light switch on. A soft glow of florescent lighting flooded the large room, soothing Summer’s nerves. Guess she would never be the same carefree individual she was before the incident. Oh, shake it off. You’re safe and it’s time to get on with life. “Come on Pip, let’s get this place open.”

A massive stone fireplace towered in the corner. She picked up an arm full of wood and flung it in the general direction. Logs landed in the fire pit and neatly arranged themselves in a tepee shape. With a magic flick of her finger toward the hearth, flames raced up the aspen logs. “That’s better.”

She raised her arms, about to send the yoga mats back to their proper place when the heavy wooden front door creaked open. Piper rushed toward the door, teeth bared and a growl rumbled in her throat. Summer whirled around and yelped as Devlin ambled into the room, black hair tousled and glistening with melting snowflakes. His nonchalance at the dog’s approach surprised her as he slowed to a stop. Piper sniffed around him, backed up a few inches, then stood at alert in front of Devlin.

“You scared the bejeebers out of me.” Summer held her hand to her chest as her heart thundered. “What are you doing here?”

“Call your guard dog off and I’ll tell you.” The corners of Devlin’s mouth curved up into a smile, a faint light twinkled in the depths of his dark eyes.

“Piper, leave it…come.” The dog gave Devlin a last sideways glance, trotted back to Summer and sat at her side.

You, like me, are born under what is known as the Capricorn-Aquarius Cusp. If you were born between about January 17 and January 23, you were born on The Cusp of Mystery and Imagination, and there’s never a dull moment. It’s clear it fits us both.
Best of luck with the new release!

  7. Hi Tena, I just bought your book! It sounds like a great little read for a rainy/snowing night here in Virginia!

BTW, I’ve had the honor of meeting the man who helped pull together the Navy Seal program and then headed it. He’s an older gentleman who looks 20-25 years younger than he is and I think there’s still a six-pac under his shirt. He cuts his own grass to stay in shape and plays soccer for fun. I’m positive the man’s wife is not a witch but I do see some resemblance to Devlin.

    • Thanks E. Ayers. I hope you enjoy the book. You getting a lot of snow, weather? Let me know what you think.

Wow, that is really interesting. I tried to make Devlin believable. Sounds like I may have hit the mark, or at least close. Sure his wife isn’t…. LOL I live in Colorado where there are several military installations. I too have had a chance to meet several special forces men and their families. They are a different breed.

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend. Sorry I am late replying. Unexpected road trip for my birthday. It was great fun! Have a wonderful weekend. Thanks too for buying Charm Me!
